(8 posts)

  1. Hi Guys & Girls
myself, my partner & another couple are planning a trip to NZ for march 2010.

Ages away i know but we want the best trip so im asking for advice and the best things to do and places to stay from people that have been there !!

We are very outdoorsy couples that love extreme sports and nature and dont really want to be in any cities etc.

    Going for two weeks

    WHERE DO WE START ????????

All advice welcome to make it an awesome trip.
    we are all 23-25
thought maybe we would go self contained apartment type accomodation?
where are the best places to go?
we were thinking of just going to two or three different places and traveling from those spots.
ARGG its so hard please help!!

    Cheers Jenna and the crew

hi I'm planning a trip to NZ for March too, I'm going to do one of those working holidays, so I'm starting out in Hastings, Hawkes Bay because there is a lot of fruit picking work which pays ok so gonna use that money to fund my travelling.

There is a website ive came across called http://www.bbh.co.nz/ which lists a lot of info of accomodation, although I think its just hostels but I think its pretty good, you can send away for a free brochure to get some more info.

I'm also thinking about doing a magic bus tour of the whole of NZ to make sure I dont miss anything because pretty much want to see it all lol, the website is http://www.magicbus.co.nz/

The tour guides are supposed to be really helpful and they go stop at all the good places, you can get on and off as often as you want, i.e. get off the bus and spend a few nights in a hostel so that you can go skydiving or something crazy, then get on the next bus and go somewhere else and do something else like bungy jumping lol. To cram the full tour in really quick it will take a minimum of 26 days to do.

Another cool website is this one
(its one big link by the way so copy and past both lines together)

    http://www.newzealand.com/travel/about-nz/features/go-all-the-way/?cid=uk0909_search_paid_google&gclid=CJOI2duAzp0CFVtn4wodGS_rrg

There are the i-site websites aswell
    http://www.newzealand.com/travel/i-sites/i-sites_home.cfm

Erm.. I cant think of much else that will apply to you because all my info is for working holiday stuff lol.

Oh there are companies that are supposed to be really good for hiring cars if you are wanting to do a road trip, i want to do that aswell but I'm gonna be over there for at least 6months - a year or more because on a working holiday I can stay for up to 2 years, hiring a car might be a good idea for you all to travel together, or even a camper van lol

    Good luck with your trip
    :-)

Hi, you guys sound similar to me.

I just started scrolling through pages of information but came across one site

    www.southpacificadventure.com

Its a small site but I have been back twice in the last week and both times there are new companies involved so its getting updated regularly. I emailed a few of the guys on the site and they where fantastic!

    Have fun JP

If you are planning for the new Zealand trip then also plan to visit Te Aroha that is one of the most beautiful place in New Zealand situated in the Thames Valley. The name 'Te Aroha' comes from the Māori word Aroha, where legend has it that Rāhiri climbed the mountain and saw his homeland in the distance and felt a sense of love (aroha) for it. The name is often rendered in English as 'place of love'.

  8. hi,in my opinion you should go to Te Aroha in New Zealand. It is very well known and Beautiful place there.Te Aroha is a tourism place within New Zealand. At 952m Mount Te Aroha is the highest point in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park and is part of an ancient volcanic chain from 24 to 2 million years ago.Last yeat i visited there with my husband. You will have all the facilities there.Accommodation includes powered camp sites, comfy wooden cabins and fully serviced family cottages sleeping up to six people. All cabins and cottages have a television and some cooking facilities any many more.
