Hey everyone, **By the way I'm nearly 20 (female) and speak fluent english**
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on my NZ plan because I've never traveled far before and going half way round the world myself seems daunting but exciting so I'm gonna go for it.
Right now its October and I wanna get on a flight for auckland mid february/march
when I get off the plane I'm gonna get a bus down to Hastings in Hawkes Bay and stay at "The Rotten Apple"
I wanna get settled in and get everything sorted like tax and start working for 3-4 months as a fruit picker (possibly for "Mr. Apple")
**Hopefully I'll meet some cool people because I think the most daunting part about going to NZ is being alone for the traveling part**
According to different stuff I've read the fruit harvest is March, April & May so after that I'd like to go on one of those Magic Bus tours of NZ (the 26 day one) so that I can see all the cool stuff, pick up some souvenirs and get some cool Pics (This being funded by some of my fruit picking wages)
So really thats me got the first 4-5 months all filled up but I will be getting a 12 month working holiday visa, I'd quite like to work for another 3 months or so on top of that to fund some more traveling or activities, although I have no clue what I wanna do or what part of NZ I'd like to spend some time in just chilling out.
I might even do that magic bus tour again (if i haven't made any friends who would like to do a road trip or something) because it says its a 12 month pass that I could use as often as I liked... like i said I have no clue what the last 6 months of NZ will be like for me but I was gonna just go with the flow.
Does this sound like a good plan (work, travel, work, travel, then go home)???
Also like I said my biggest worry is probably being alone, not because I think I'd be lonely but more the fact I don't wanna be put in a dodgy situation (i.e. dodgy people mugging me...or worse is kinda a big concern for me). Ideally I'd love to go over for everyone I come across to be semi-decent and to make a few good friends at the fruit picking who I can tag along with for the duration of my stay in NZ - Is this unrealistic or will NZ be one of the best times of my life like I hope it will be???
Also any advice would be much appreciated because I dont know any travelers and no-one seems interested in going to NZ (or anywhere) so feel a bit isolated and just want some re-assurance I guess :-)
Thanks and sorry this was so long
x
