I wanted to drop by and let you know that the dates for the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival have just been confirmed as Friday 26 June - Sunday 5 July 2009.

If you have never experienced the festival before, I strongly advise you make this your first year! It's the southern hemisphere's biggest winter party and traditionally marks the start of the ski-season in Queenstown. Every year it promises and delivers incredible fun and is a great way to get you fired up for the season.

The ten day festival includes heaps of events starting with the opening party with fireworks, mulled wine and lots of street fun, followed by comedy shows, jazz night, debates, dog racing, mountain bike racing on snow, frisbee golf, mardi gras night, murder mystery and much more.

Just one word of warning - it gets busy! Throughout the ten days, the festival attracts around 60,000 visitors to Queenstown; therefore make sure you book your hotels / hostels / flights early!

The final programme is to be confirmed shortly so keep an eye on www.winterfestival.co.nz for updates and ticket sales.
